Identifying Geochemical Anomalies
نویسنده
چکیده
Geochemical anomalies are geochemical features different from what is considered normal. They can be the result of: 1. unusual or uncommon processes concentrating particular elements (e.g. an ore-forming process, weathering and element dispersion from an unusual element concentration such as an orebody); 2. element accumulation or concentration by common processes acting over long periods (e.g. scavenging and concentration of certain elements by ironstones, ferrruginous regolith or manganese oxides); 3. artificial contamination of sites or samples; 4. analytical noise or error (e.g. poor precision of the analytical method, particularly for element concentrations close to the detection limit).

Application of C-A fractal model and exploratory data analysis (EDA) to delineate geochemical anomalies in the: Takab 1:25,000 geochemical sheet, NW Iran
Abstract Most conventional statistical methods aiming at defining geochemical concentration thresholds for separating anomalies from background have limited effectiveness in areas with complex geological settings and variable lithology. In this paper, median+2MAD as a method of exploratory data analysis (EDA) and concentration-area (C-A) fractal model as two effective approaches in separation g...

The analysis of geochemical data in frequency domain, as indicated in this research study, can provide new exploratory informationthat may not be exposed in spatial domain. To identify deep geochemical anomalies, sulfide zone and geochemical noises in Dalli Cu–Au porphyry deposit, a new approach based on coupling Fourier transform (FT) and principal component analysis (PCA) has beenused. The re...

The most significant aspect of a geochemical exploration program is to define and separate the anomalous values from the background. In the past decades, geochemical anomalies have been identified by means of various methods. Most of the conventional statistical methods aiming at defining the geochemical concentration thresholds for separating anomalies from the background have limited the effi...
متن کاملThe effect of estimation methods on fractal modeling for anomalies’ detection in the Irankuh area, Central Iran
This study aims to recognize effect of Ordinary Kriging (OK) and Inverse Distance Weighted (IDW) estimation methods for separation of geochemical anomalies based on soil samples using Concentration-Area (C-A) fractal model in Irankuh area, central Iran. Variograms and anisotropic ellipsoid were generated for the Pb and Zn distribution. Thresholds values from the C-A log-log plots based on the e...

Iranian Cenozoic magmatic belt, known as Urumieh-Dokhtar, is recognized as an important polymetallic mineralization which hosts porphyry, epithermal, and polymetallic skarn deposits. In this regard, multivariate analyses are generally used to extract significant anomalous geochemical signature of the mineral deposits. In this study, stepwise factor analysis, cluster analysis, and concentration–...
